The last presentation I talked about the watermelon, it scientific name is Citrullus Lanatus, is originally from southern Africa, there are more than 1200 varieties of watermelon in a range of weight from less than one to more than 200 pounds; the flesh can be red, orange, yellow or white, nowadays the watermelon is cultivate worldwide, Watermelon is also mentioned in the Bible as a food eaten by the ancient Israelites while they were in bondage in Egypt, besides the first recorded watermelon harvest occurred nearly 5,000 years ago in Egypt, watermelon spread to countries along the Mediterranean Sea by way of merchant ships. The watermelon basically is made up of water, besides has some vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B6 and as others fruits has vitamin C. The watermelon has a smooth exterior rind usually green with dark green stripes or yellow spots and a juicy, sweet interior flesh usually deep red to pink, but sometimes orange, yellow, or white. Reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases, helps maintain blood pressure, helps eliminate toxic waste, its fiber content helps to clean the intestines, its consume produces satiety, is very suitable in diets because is diuretic and also because it´s low in calories and cholesterol, helps the production of breast milk, watermelon moisturizes the skin and is also used as a home remedy for acne because it contains vitamin A and vitamin E.

Both the species and its use as a food originated in Mexico, and spread around the world. typically shades ranging from yellow to red, it has a slightly acidic taste , is about 1 to 2 cm in diameter in the wild species, and is much larger in cultivated varieties. He produced and consumed around the world both fresh and processed in different ways. Tomato is a food with low calories. Most of its weight is water Tomato is an important source of certain minerals (such as potassium and magnesium). During the summer months, the tomato is one of the main sources of vitamin C. The tomato is consumed in diverse ways, including raw, as an ingredient in many dishes, sauces, salads, and drinks.

It used to make many productos as smoothies,ice cream,pastry shop,jams and yogurts.
I saw in class The Unit:15 Loanwords how the english begin to take words from a foreign language and adopt them as their own. it is called "borrowing" is a cultural and lingustic exchange that results when two cultures come into contact with one another. the english language was adopted 200 of foreign words as a result of various invasions and influence of migrants and traders and its native language had a slight deformation of spelling,pronunciation,or meaning.
And also we talk about: Dream the woman was sad because his love is not corresponded and leave you with a broken heart and alone. she wanted it to be a dream but it was a cruel reality, but it was interesting because we share our opinions.
The Achemist what a great book!!!. This story is about a shepherd who had a dream,looking for an answer to that dream he goes to see a dreams interpreter,and according to her interpretation there is a treasure wainting for the shepherd in the pyramids of Egypt. the shepherd decides to follow his dream,and sells all his sheep to get the money to travel. When he gets to africa found a guy who promissed helping him to get to Egypt,but the guy steals all the money the shepherd had,and he finds himself alone,without money ,no place to go and no way to communicate. Walking down th street he gets to a crystal store and asks for some food in change of cleanin the windows,the merchant took pity on the boy and gives him a job. They became friends because they had something in common,both were following a dream.
Well, honestly I did not expect that the evaluation would be that way, but was not too bad nor so complicated. I hope to have a good qualification and that the teacher not be so bad with us. =)
The last week was good for me, i spent time with my family we went to the beach, we swam in the sea and we played on the sand, the funny is that my birthday was in the same day than my firts test from reading and composition, it was not too bad, at least i could finished it after this i arrived home and a delisous chocalate cake was waiting for me. I think i am improving my reading becuse as i heard the volunteers, they said i did it well.
I had a good,experience,l really appreciate the confidence the teacher gives us.l always get nervous at the time of speaking,but this time l felt comfortable with the teacher Henry and I guess l did it right.
I think was interest by different razors, the first because was a mix of write, read, compression and speaker, we could demonstrated our knowledge, wrote a general summary with ourselves word, we read and proved our pronunciation, also could speaker, understood and answered question. The most important to me is that the nation speaker English took the teacher place and did the evaluation, I feel relax with they and I like working with them.
The test of the last week was good, but when I had to write was a little difficult because the ideas didn't come to me so I hope what I wrote is well and also hope it makes sense. In the reading part I felt good, I think I read well, and I also think that what I explain to the teacher about the reading was well, sometimes when I speak I don't know what to say because I don't have enough vocabulary, so I hope the teacher has mercy of me.
I didn't expect an evaluation like that,my reading and writing aren't as good as I would like them to be.But I had a good experience. let's see what's up?.
The last week test made me feel a kind of bittersweet taste because i like interact with Taylor and Neils,they are great guys friendly and kind i feel more confortable reading and talking with them than teacher Henry but i don't think that they have the object way to evaluate us.Because they just are English speakers they just can see who does well and who doesn´t and it isn't because we can't do it,it is because of the pressure that we don't know what's going to happen!.I know that some of us felt that way,but is my opinion.
I going to talk about the beautiful experience that is have native speaker like friends.
Have friends like Taylor and Nils, is very important, because we speaker only ingles, they tell us the mistake y the most important is that we lose the shame, and if we lose that, we can have better flow.
I my case, I feel good, because I am improve my listen Skill, and I understand better, I also tried to speak with them
Hi everybody! I´m back. The last week my son was sick, he had dengue, therefore he was admitted to the hospital for three days. He is now in good health!
I write today about my news. Presidential candidate Johnny Araya surprised many Ticos on Sunday, with his basement bottom prices for simple household goods, like milk and rice. The once longtime mayor of Costa Rica´s capital city should have consulted with his vice presidential running mate Jorge Pattoni, general manager of The Dos Pinos dairy cooperative, before answering how much a liter of milk goes for nowadays. Araya estimated the cost of liter of milk at 200 colones and a kilogram of rice at 300 colones, half the actual prices. The median price for one liter of 2 percent milk is 626 colones and 707 colones for 1 kilogram of rice. The former mayor of San José added that Ticos could get a "Casado" for as little as 1000 colones. Other candidates were closer to the mark. Rodolfo Piza ( PUSC candidate) came the closest of those asked at 600 colones, Jose María Villalta ( Frente Amplio candidate) was close to the price of a kilo of rice with his guess of 700 colones, but overestimated the cost of milk by almost as much as Araya low-balled it. saying it cost 1000 colones. Admittedly, Villalta said he doesn´t drink milk. The candidate of Partido Movimiento Libertario, Otto Guevara abstained from most of the questions about the household index, saying he doesn´t do the shopping in the house. La Teja also asked the candidates how much they pay for electricity and their cellphone bills, and how much a liter of gasoline goes for.
Last week. The teacher gave us two dice, and we had to choose a number, yes to roll the dice we came out we chose the number that we had to read, it was interesting. in the group I was with taylor we play, she is an outgoing girl with a big heart and she wants to learn much from them.
Hi guys- i am going to talk about my experience with ours new friends. I am very exited because i want to learn and they are friendly with us and they like help us and i feel that i am learning more and i hope that this proyect help us to be better.
My speech was a about a new, its name was the crocodile that attacked a surfer in Tamarindo. The surfer was telling the audience that he is not against the crocodile, he said he protect this animal “The crocodile is right to be there” he said. He also add, “it is a small, without experience in hunting animal” we should let it live there in its habitat. Still the local conservationists said it should be reported to the National System of Conservation Areas
Last Lesson we watched a report about about nature, it was very interesting how the world has been changing, we learn a lot about trees and how old they were, it is incredible to know that some of them have existed since centuries ago, we also learned how animals survive in their habitat. i was surprised when i heard that the cicada last 17 year to life just for a couple of weeks. there are many species of animal all over the world and they find many adversities in their way but they try until they die. Life is this way in this world.
I am going to talk about a serious younger`s problem. Monseñor Vittorino Girardi wrote a note, about a situation that we are living in Costa Rica. He said that we are having problems like slavery of prostitution, violence, Drug, abuse, abandoment. What Can we do ? he said that we need to know, about a differents point to fight with those ills. 1. We dont hide our ills, we need to acept that have problems. 2. The éducation , is so urgent, he said the families have the good education`s responsabilities with their sons, but we need to know that the education is not, say some rulers or words like, Don’t do or should not , because that is not enough, the parents have to give the example , a scientific study say that only a seven percent of children learn with of parents’ word, the rest 93% with your examples and behavior, is by this reason that we must do well persons , because our son will to be like their parent´s 3. Also in the education is responsabily, first the family, after teacher and religion, and general goverment.
It was about the secrets and magic of the nature. where the rainforest contains more of the plants and animals on the planet. new guinea island features has 42 different bird species . it was very interesting.
hello, i late to write because my computer is damage, but I think the test was easy, but we had to use a lot of words, to my was awful, but I know that teacher Henry is pura vida and he help us.
About the documentary, I found it very interesting and I am amazed of the number of different animals that exist in the world. I learn about them, is so interesting how is the way they do to survive and like others of them feed of other species. In summary the film was nice and it teach us a lot of things about the animals.
I liked see different forest types in worldwide, also the importance as food chain, and species unknow that only live in the poles. I learned that the pines grow in different ecosystems.
The video that teacher Henry showed us, was beutifull, was about the life in diferents world places, we learnt several point,about, animal, trees, food, life, survive and other important point. also we learnt how animal do, to survive in the snow, in the the desert,in the water, in the hot and in the cool, we saw how they do to be alive of other animals fight. I enjoy see this type of videos, and a think that all classmate too.
I liked the nature documentary, it really is a beautiful sight to all that our Lord created, with only his words and his hand, unfortunately the man was responsible for destroying it, we help conserve nature, so God left us as stewards of earth. I hope we continue to show teacher more of these videos, it's important to know the biodiversity, survival, life, etc..
The last week. the teacher did 3 groups so that each reading will explain that we had touched, the first group was taylor they spoke of The creation of the euro alexander was the second,they spoke about Lunar and solar eclipses and last group was Nills, jessennia, jenny freddy and self. shakespare was reading. also all share a snack for volunteers and was very nice.
The exposition last week was very good, for me it was interesting to learn about shakespare, we continue to work with the volunteers but I disagree that they evaluate the exams.
I really liked the second test we had last week, it was nice beacuse we had the opportunity to talk about the readings we have been study in class, at the beginning it was a bit hard for me, because i was nervous and i though i had to say exactly was it was in the reading, but then our teacher told us to explain just what we understood and i felt comfortable. I think i did a good job. well i hope so :9
The activitie that we did in group was interesting, I think that is good do activities like that because is good for us. Although I didn´t know about thereading we choose our group was nice an we could do it.
the second test was better than first one to me because i think that i did it good, well I hope so, I don´t like do that with native speakers because they do not know about our nivel of english but, what Ican do?, any way I hope to do the best.
have hope that I will do well in this second evaluation, I am satisfied with the course of reading, hopefully we can all finish with all projects, Henry thanks for motivating classes.
I'm thinking of writing something in the Bible article, for example, the message of the 3 angels, I hope I can give my best to write this article and people who see this article to understand the importance of this message.

I foumd this book in the public library, because I couldn't find one.
But this book is very interesting, has many chapters, it has 63 chapters.

It is a Crime fiction lecture, It is about a crime that took place in Sweden, the main actors are a Famous journalist and an heroine in investigation, her name is Salander, both helped an old man to find out his grandson´s disappearance, during this process they start a close relationship even though they are from different ages and mood.

I am going to read a book, Its name is Norwegian Wood, the book is about a novel, of 1987 by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. Is a nostalgic Story, about the sexually and loss, The protagonist is Toru Watanabe, in speak about his Tokio stayed during his first university study year. Toru remember his relationship with two women, Naoko, a pretty girl and Midori, a social girl.

ReplyDeleteI chose this book because I saw the movie and it was great, at the end almost made me cry, so I thought that if the movie was great, the book should be wonderful.
The book is about a family who are living in the middle of the second world war, and the father who is a senior military nazi is sent to work in a extermination camp.
Bruno the youngest son is very curious and also he likes to explore around the new haose but his mother does not like that he do that.
In his path, Bruno reaches a fence where he meets another boy called Shmuel, this boy was wearing a striped pajamas, Bruno does not know that the people behind of the fence were jews, the kids become in best friends and Bruno almost always visit to him to brings him food.
At the end this friendship becomes in the death of Bruno and Shmuel when they are force to get along in a dark room that it was actually a gas chamber.

The book was published in 1850, it is about a novel.
It is a story about sin, punishment, guilty. Hester Prynne is the central protagonist who has a child out of wedlock. She is forced to wear a scarlet "a" over her chest, meaning “adulteress” estranged from her husband.
The appearance of what took place is at opposite poles as to the actual circumstances of the event. Who is guilty?
She doesn't reveal the identity of the father of her daughter, and tries to live in a society with dignity, unfair and hypocritical.
I personally want to learn a lot of vocabulary, become fluent in reading and that this is the beginning I like reading.

Hi! Firstly I decide to read a book titled Rose, the writer called Martin Cruz Smith. Yessenia`s teacher lend me this book and I started to read it, because I thought that the content is interestiing. The book is based on a story that takes place in Wigan, England. Basically an American engineer, John Blair who accepts a mission to investigate the disappearance of John Maypole, and during their research meets a woman named Rose, who soon captivates with her beauty, and when Blair dicovers Maypole`s diary hidden in his wall, a startling story unravels, revealing Wigan`s darkest secret...

ReplyDeleteI think the industrial revolution in Britain was the first step that the British had to invent machines like the spinning jenny, steam locomotive steel plow and the population rose to the clouds began to manufacturing, textile factories and more so the Britain and states are among the countries where modernization is what I agree was not working minor children and the work was monotonous, but most interested me was the unit 13 the physics of a roller coaster as the laws of physics apply to these roller coasters gravity system, positions, potential energy but is not recommended for people with heart problems and nervous.

I remember this topic, I saw it at high school.
The Industrial Revolution changed society Britain, was easier manufacture clothing, developed manufacture textiles, made more quantities.
The Industrial Revolution was good also bad.
Why good?, because grew demand clothing and items and gave work to housewives, the production was good and cheaper.
On the other hand the problems began, the smog and sickness.
Was terrible that the poor people and orphaned children worked hard.
The Industrial Revolution spread to the rest of Europe and America.
But it's very important and necessary the Industrial Revolution for our lives.

The industrial revolution began in Great Britain and brought about profound changes that completely transformed British society.
The good side of the Great Britain, it was the creations of products cheaper and easier to come by for the general public, as a result, people from the lower and middle classes could afford to buy better quality clothes. Despite that genus work, this was poorly paid; they worked more than 14 hours a day.
Furthermore, the young workers that were mutilated by the hazardous equipment, with which they worked which case they lost their jobs without any compensation.
I think the changes are good, but not is possible want a developed country where there are people affected; one example of this is the impact of the British revolution, where major workers were orphans and exploited to the point that they could for might lose their job without the possibility of finding another job, because of the risk exposed by machinery with which they struck up and be fired without imdemnizacion for damage caused to your person.

When he gets to africa found a guy who promissed helping him to get to Egypt,but the guy steals all the money the shepherd had,and he finds himself alone,without money ,no place to go and no way to communicate.
Walking down th street he gets to a crystal store and asks for some food in change of cleanin the windows,the merchant took pity on the boy and gives him a job. They became friends because they had something in common,both were following a dream.

The last week was good for me, i spent time with my family we went to the beach, we swam in the sea and we played on the sand, the funny is that my birthday was in the same day than my firts test from reading and composition, it was not too bad, at least i could finished it after this i arrived home and a delisous chocalate cake was waiting for me. I think i am improving my reading becuse as i heard the volunteers, they said i did it well.

ReplyDeleteI think was interest by different razors, the first because was a mix of write, read, compression and speaker, we could demonstrated our knowledge, wrote a general summary with ourselves word, we read and proved our pronunciation, also could speaker, understood and answered question. The most important to me is that the nation speaker English took the teacher place and did the evaluation, I feel relax with they and I like working with them.
The test of the last week was good, but when I had to write was a little difficult because the ideas didn't come to me so I hope what I wrote is well and also hope it makes sense.

ReplyDeletePresidential candidate Johnny Araya surprised many Ticos on Sunday, with his basement bottom prices for simple household goods, like milk and rice. The once longtime mayor of Costa Rica´s capital city should have consulted with his vice presidential running mate Jorge Pattoni, general manager of The Dos Pinos dairy cooperative, before answering how much a liter of milk goes for nowadays.
Araya estimated the cost of liter of milk at 200 colones and a kilogram of rice at 300 colones, half the actual prices.
The median price for one liter of 2 percent milk is 626 colones and 707 colones for 1 kilogram of rice.
The former mayor of San José added that Ticos could get a "Casado" for as little as 1000 colones.
Other candidates were closer to the mark. Rodolfo Piza ( PUSC candidate) came the closest of those asked at 600 colones, Jose María Villalta ( Frente Amplio candidate) was close to the price of a kilo of rice with his guess of 700 colones, but overestimated the cost of milk by almost as much as Araya low-balled it. saying it cost 1000 colones. The exposition last week was very good, for me it was interesting to learn about shakespare, we continue to work with the volunteers but I disagree that they evaluate the exams.

I really liked the second test we had last week, it was nice beacuse we had the opportunity to talk about the readings we have been study in class, at the beginning it was a bit hard for me, because i was nervous and i though i had to say exactly was it was in the reading, but then our teacher told us to explain just what we understood and i felt comfortable. I think i did a good job. well i hope so :9
ReplyDeleteThe activitie that we did in group was interesting, I think that is good do activities like that because is good for us. Although I didn´t know about thereading we choose our group was nice an we could do it.
ReplyDeletethe second test was better than first one to me because i think that i did it good, well I hope so, I don´t like do that with native speakers because they do not know about our nivel of english but, what Ican do?, any way I hope to do the best.

ReplyDeleteThe second evaluation was not so difficult just hope out well, with the teacher felt confident I now only have to wait the result.
I'm thinking of writing something in the Bible article, for example, the message of the 3 angels, I hope I can give my best to write this article and people who see this article to understand the importance of this message.

ReplyDeleteThe teacher gave us some images were 3 groups, each group had to invent a story and come forward and narrate.
I liked the activities that we made with the imagine of teacher gave us.Princess and castle was interesting.
